Jennifer noted that we had hosted a meal for some visiting doctors. It was a bit of a challenge for us only because it was our first time doing this hosting and the power cut out on us. Even with these things the night really did go off quite well. We joked with them that we provided extra ambience - candlelight dinner! My reason for mentioning this is really to point to the long term missionaries who are constantly called upon to host a meal or a guest overnight. They do all of this without blinking an eye - well at least if they grumble or flinch I have not seen it. There is no remuneration for this so they stretch their own resources to cover these expenses. The odd dinner one might just say ‘Oh well ...’ but this is a regular occurrence and yet not a complaint. They ask God’s blessing on all and feed all who are present. In a way it does remind me of the church in Acts where “There was not a needy person among them, ...”. So when you support a missionary you are also enabling other mission work to occur too! It s like getting a two for one sale! We ask for God’s blessing on all the long term missionaries who offer hospitality and encouragement outside of their main mission focus.
