How Great Thou Art
 |
| Victoria Falls |
We have just returned from our trip to see some of the beautiful
sights and sounds of Zambia. We visited game parks where we saw
elephants, hippos, crocodiles and many other wild creatures. We spent a
day wandering the trails of Victoria Falls approaching it from various
viewpoints. As I was looking at them and trying to find words to
describe the experience I finally was reminded of the hymn “How Great
Thou Art.” One line that kept going over in my mind is “then sings my
soul.” It is perhaps the closest I can come to convey what I felt.
God’s wondrous creation is everywhere and is so amazing that it causes
the soul to sing.

| Reindeer?? |
Christmas is tomorrow and it is hard for us to fathom when we
look outside and everything is lush and green - even when we see a
fellow missionary’s fully lit Christmas tree. The crickets are chirping.
Our garden is producing some delicious green beans. Pumpkins are
beginning to form on the vine. A couple of the tomato plants are
starting to look a little stronger. My mind equates the Christmas story
to dark and cold winter nights. But as Christians celebrate the birth
of Jesus around the world in many different ways that first Christmas
will always be the same. The wonder of angels coming down to tell the
shepherds, a bright star to guide the magi, God’s awesome love entering
the world through a tiny baby born in a stable joins all Christians
throughout the world.
