This past week has been a very active one for us. The students at the Academy had their testing so there were tests to prepare, administer and mark and report cards to begin as this coming week is the last week of the school year. We were also able to run all three 2 hour evening computer classes this week for the nursing students as we had no power outages on those nights and the key for the computer lab was available each night.
We are thankful for our prayer partners for remembering to pray for these things. Also, thank you to those who were praying for me, Jennifer, as I recuperated from some virus that had me feeling terrible at the beginning of the week. I am feeling much better.
Thursday was the American Thanksgiving and as there are a number of Americans here at the Mukinge mission station we celebrated with them on Friday. We all brought something to share and although we had to substitute chicken for turkey it was a very special evening. We were all thankful for the family we have here and how each new member is welcomed here. (I was also thankful that I wasn’t experiencing the -20C temperature that Orillia was experiencing at the time.)
By Saturday afternoon one of our American friends here had her Christmas tree up and fully decorated. She had been itching all week to begin the Christmas season. It seemed a little strange to be discussing Christmas on Saturday afternoon while swimming in the outdoor pool and enjoying above 30C weather.
The fine sunny weather has also helped ripen the abundance of mangoes on the tree next to our house. We have enjoyed eating several of them recently. The spider monkeys really enjoy them as well. God is good - all the time.
