Last week Friday, at the end of a dreary day, a parcel arrived from Canada for us. It was a package filled with Christmas gifts from our daughters that they sent November 12th. It may have taken about three months to get here but for us it was just on time to brighten our day - a photo album (just in case they thought we would forget what they look like??) chocolate (we'll have some arm wrestles over that), some prepackaged noodles (good for when we need to rush out but need to eat), pudding and koolaid.
We continue to say hello and goodbye to various short term missionaries as they come through to serve here and to enrich our lives. Recently we said good bye to Tabitha (from Australia) and Janet (from England) and hello to Michael (from Switzerland) and Sarah (from U.S.A.). Michael arrived with his cajon (a six-sided box-shaped percussion instrument) and Sarah with her guitar. They have shared their musical talents at our Wednesday evening prayer meetings. We have been blessed with this addition to our praise and worship time.
This afternoon the Tompkin family which includes four very energetic children were down at the pool enjoying a great afternoon swim. The rains came up and poured down in buckets, but did that discourage the children and have them running for cover. No, they just kept on jumping in the pool and having a great time. We can learn much from children.
The Head Teacher at the Academy has returned to England on
furlough so Brian has taken over the responsibilites of Head Teacher
while continuing to teach the Grade Six class. Just to keep him out of
trouble he stays after school to try and finish putting up the ceiling
boards in his classroom. Add to this his computer class at the nursing
school that he holds Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evening and he is
quite busy. The computer classes should be finished by the time I
return to Canada in April so that will give him a little more time to
concentrate on his other duties. So prayer for wisdom, energy, strength
and patience would all be appreciated.
This morning at church we sang "Because He Lives". The words really spoke to me and reminded me that I whatever I am facing, I am not alone and that life IS worth the living just because He lives.
"Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone,
Because I know, He holds the future
And life is worth the living, just because He lives.
We continue to lift up in prayer our many supporters. You are part of this incredible journey we have taken here to Mukinge, Zambia and we have been blessed by your prayers and encouragement.
